What we do - Fondazione Lene Thun

What we do

We are the number 1 ONLUS (non-profit organisation) in Italy in terms of diffusion for recreational therapy through clay modelling.

The Lene Thun Foundation ONLUS carries out recreational therapy projects using clay modelling, mainly in children’s oncology and haematology departments in Italy’s major hospitals.

The effectiveness of recreational therapy is also scientifically recognised. This therapy becomes a real support for drug-based medical treatment and, as such, has evolved into the beating heart of our ceramics workshops.

The Foundation mostly works according to two methods: permanent workshops and special workshops.

Our workshops

Laboratori permanenti in ospedale

Permanent workshops

This kind of workshop is the traditional way the Foundation works. They provide valuable support to help people cope with a period of sickness. They are permanent clay modelling workshops offering a recreational space every week to children in hospital.
The workshops are held in the children’s departments of Italian hospital facilities that accommodate long-stay patients, mainly in OncologyDay-Hospital and Neuropsychiatry departments.

Laboratori permanenti digitali

Special workshops

These are projects carried out in different situations of disease and social disadvantage (such as earthquake-affected areas and children with SMA), in facilities or associations that work with serious and chronic conditions in childhood and adolescence.
These workshops are of limited duration and are mainly organised as travelling projects.

Scientifically recognised, clay handling is much more than just a recreational activity.

A Little from Many

For us, every donation, even the smallest, is invaluable, and we cannot help but consider it the most beautiful and precious gift.
